BUFFALO BAYOU EAST MASTER PLAN
Continuing a legacy of creating transformative and award-winning green spaces, Buffalo Bayou Partnership launched a Master Plan in 2019 for the waterway east of downtown Houston. The Buffalo Bayou East Master Plan envisions integrating bayou parks and trails, dynamic recreational and cultural destinations, and connections into the surrounding neighborhoods.
Thanks to a historic public-private partnership anchored by a $100 million gift from the Kinder Foundation, BBP’s visionary Buffalo Bayou East Master Plan will become a reality!
BUFFALO BAYOU EAST 10-YEAR PLAN
The Kinder Foundation’s transformational gift served as the catalyst to secure significant public funds from the City of Houston and Harris County, as well as $14 million in federal housing tax credits, and represents approximately one-third of the $310 million total investment in Buffalo Bayou East. Over the next ten years, BBP, the City and County will deliver key parks, trails, bayou-crossing pedestrian bridges, affordable housing, cultural destinations, and infrastructure improvements to the Greater East End and Fifth Ward communities. BBP continues to raise the remaining funds needed to complete the 10-Year Plan projects: a goal of $50 million by 2031.
