The long-awaited Johnny Steele Dog Park opens to the public on January 17, 2015. The grand opening celebration will feature family — and animal — friendly activities such as a dog “kissing booth,” dog food samples, a doggie lounge area, on-site pet adoptions, giveaways and more. We promise you’ll have a dog-gone good time!
The two-acre dog park features large and small dog ponds, dog washing areas and shade structures. It was named by a special group of donors in honor of their good friend Johnny Steele, a well-known Houston landscape architect. Following the public celebration, the dog park will be open daily from 7 am to 8 pm.
Also, be aware that because our dog park is new, there will be a temporary closure in April 2015 to reseed and prepare the grass for the warmer summer months. Be on the lookout for posted signage and social media reminders.
Be sure to prepare your doggies for the festivities with a plaque in their honor, pop-up water bowls or dog leashes, available for purchase.
