Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s pontoon tour boat, Spirit of the Bayou, will take 21 guests on a 1½ hour ride through the heart of downtown along historic Buffalo Bayou past Allen’s Landing, Sesquicentennial Park and Sabine Promenade, historic McKee Street Bridge, and the industrial side of our city. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and beverages.

Departure location: 1019 Commerce Street (at Main Street), go down the cascading stairs (on your left of the 3-story brown brick building). The pontoon boat will be docked at the wharf.

The Port to Port History Tour is a cruise east of downtown on Buffalo Bayou from Allen’s Landing to the Port of Houston Turning Basin. In 1914 with the opening of the Houston Ship Channel and the modern Port of Houston, the section of Buffalo Bayou from the port’s turning basin to the foot of Main Street (now known as Allen’s Landing) was called the upper channel. Very few Houstonians today get to experience the upper channel by boat which has a very different environment from that of the bayou west of downtown. Join bayou guide Andrew Groocock on a historical tour of the upper channel of Buffalo Bayou focusing on the historic significance of this industrial stretch and Houston, as you cruise the approximately seven miles from the old port of Houston to the new port of Houston.
